Molitor building,
The first residential building with a glass façade,
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Label Maison des illustres
The apartment-studio occupies the top two floors of a totally innovative building designed between 1931 and 1934 by Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret on the border between Paris and Boulogne. With eight floors of fully glazed facades, he created the first glass apartment building in the history of architecture. Since 2016, the Molitor building has been listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, along with seventeen other major sites created by Le Corbusier. It was the subject of a restoration campaign in 2017 and 2018.
The 240m2 duplex houses Le Corbusier's home and painting studio. Bathed in light and open to nature, we find the elements of his architectural language: the free plan, the large lengthwise glazed panels, the roof terrace, the polychromy, and the huge pivoting doors which partition as much as they fluidify the space.
