In her autobiography, Charlotte Perriand describes the Fauteuil grand confort as a “cushion basket”. This enveloping tubular metal structure holds a set of cushions that form the seat and backrest. The Fauteuil grand confort comes in a range of sizes (large and small) and finishes (leather or fabric). Finally, the frame can be painted, like those created for the Villa Church and the authors’ personal copies, or chrome-plated from the 1959 re-edition onwards.
